The Steadicam Workshop Solution
Over the last 30 years, Steadicam has become both noun and verb
in the language of film and video and is integral to the production
of most movies, television shows, documentaries and reality programs.
There are thousands of Steadicams in use worldwide, and skill with
this much sought after instrument is an increasingly valuable asset.
Even some directors, such as Robert Rodriguez, do their own operating,
further diminishing the gap between directors, producers and camerapersons.
99% of all the world's Steadicam Operators have taken formal
workshops. Whether they have choosen a two-day Steadicam Flyer
Workshop or the more intensive five-day Steadicam Workshop, they
have taken training from highly experienced Operator/Instructors
and have left the Workshop experience in possession of the skill
and information that allows them to pursue a career in Steadicam.
Our workshops have no pre-requisites. From novice videographer
to seasoned cameraperson to producer, director, writer and all
other crew positions, our students arrive with the intense desire
to glean everything they can from the experience.

aFilm Steadicam Workshop
Tiffen recently sponsored the first aFilm Steadicam workshop in the town of Sitges near Barcelona in Spain. Instructed by Robin Thwaites from Tiffen Europe and Juan Fernandez from aFilm, the workshop was held in the building and grounds of the Estela art hotel providing a great photogenic backdrop and many interesting opportunities for Steadicam tasks.
aFilm is a newly developed film school which covers all aspects of film making via both long and short courses and is headed up by DP, Steadicam operator and underwater cameraman Juan Fernandez together with director Yolanda Torres. It is a great project and may well become a regular venue for Steadicam workshops in Europe.
